NBC 5 Chicago: News & Weather App revisa

I can see temperatures without a magnifying glass! The last overhaul yielded a bad user experience and was inferior to the one before it. This is the best one yet, very easy to see and navigate. Thank you!

Bait n switch - click on weather and either end up w/ multi videos playing sound thus not able to hear weather Or Click the weather video and unrelated video plays and not being able to locate weather video that got me to click App deleted

They took out the earthquake map so I’ll be deleting the app.

My preferred app, but why does it kick back to apps screen when I want to highlight a particular day in the 10 day forecast?

I originally picked you as my source for news, but the amount of push notifications is ridiculous. I don’t care who is speaking at the DNC or when the next Olympic event is taking place. Keep it to the important news & weather when it comes to push notifications please.

This app USED TO be my go to weather app… However, it has more problems than I can even address in this review. Not like you guys read your reviews anyways… It’s VERY evident that you guys don’t care whatsoever whether or not your app functions properly, or not. Considering the majority of these laundry list of issues has been going on for upwards of 6 months now, and not a single patch has come out to address ANY OF THEM! I really stinks that I know have to find a new weather app that actually works properly…

The radar isnt very accurate. There will be times it’ll be pouring rain and clouds dont even show up on the app. The future cast is never right. I’ll probably remove this app soon because it sends out too many notification, sometimes the same alert 3 or 4 times.

Recently, the default location isn’t recognized. The time isn’t updated and the graph will be hours old and inaccurate. Live radar works only sporadically. During this time of frequent severe weather, the app is no help. Please fix my go to app.

Get ready for a million weather alerts!!

I get news notifications. When I tap on one, it opens in the app which is extremely tiresome to use/read on because there are way too many ads which are also very big. I have to do more scrolling than news reading. Too many ads also make the app way too slow to read the news because the adds are all graphics and video. It’s much quick to read the news by just going to Safari, typing a few keywords and reading the news on other sites. If there’s an NBC search result on Safari, when I tap on it, it still opens in the NBC app. There’s no way to choose to open in Safari. Annoying NBC.

It mutes music when you click on some stories. So it’s unusable.

I depend on this app for weather and local news but for past several days the weather radar is broken. Looks like severe weather and unable to find where to submit feedback. Removed app and reinstalled - did not improve.

For the last week I have been getting notice of New Videos on your APP. I CANNOT DELETE THEM NOR CAN I FIND VIDEOS THAT DISPLAY A NEW VIDEO YET YOUR APP KEEPS TELLING ME I HAVE MULTIPLE NEW VIDEOS. This morning it alerted me to 10 NEW Videos…I COULD NOT FIND ANY VIDEOS THAT WE NEW….THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR NEARLY A WEEK. FIX THIS ISSUE NOW!

Can’t seem to get the radar to work. It’ll flicker and then disappear leaving me wondering if I’ll make it through my run dry or not lol.

When I pull up the hourly forecast to see stuff like temperature and precipitation, it shows “now” as several hours in the future.

iPhone 12 and this is the only app that consistently fails to launch. When it does the time on the weather map is 2 hours old. I have to close out and try to relaunch.

Since the last update Live Doppler 5 doesn’t show anything. You need to swap to the regular radar in order to see approaching storms. Please fix this. The review won’t let me post pictures of the issue.

… dies on my iPhone 7. Goes black, and refuses to load anything. No apparent cure. When this occurs, I either have to reboot my phone or delete and reload the app. I prefer Ch 5 for local news, but I’m getting tired of the rigamarole.

Weather alerts no longer show on the weather page. What is the point of an alert, if you have to search for it.

Come on team. Let’s get more realistic and make the appearance universally friendly and display a tiny sense of thoughtful design. The temp by day is unreadable. User should be able to glance at a forecast rather than struggle to read 2pt transparent font. Form over function

I’ve always had this app just for important news/weather notification. Recently I’m getting notifications asking if I’m “still there” and that they’ve “noticed I haven’t opened the app in a while”. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying- just wanted to provide the feedback.

Just installed it on my Roku. A lot of glitches. I have no glitches on my WGN app using Roku so I am assuming it’s the NBC app not Roku. Will not stay on Live and I get a spinning wheel when live goes to commercials. Have to constantly monitor the channel when I leave TV on in background.

I used this app for weather and news for a few years. Until Pritzger is buying adds on it GOODBY! Every other news article is Big and Bold Pritzger. No thanks!

Frequent unsolicited, unwarranted weather notifications that were almost always inaccurate. Notifications that won’t go away on the iPhone app icon. Pitiful excuse for a podunk “news” app halfway worthy of a rural station. A thorough embarrassment and deep shame for the Chicago market.

12 yrs old ? Time to update your app! I just reinstalled this app last week - now I am thinking about leaving it off of my phone since your weather app is not functioning. Sorry - update your app or I am not putting this crap wear on my phone. I deleted your app - sick of getting a gray screen - your weather app no longer works. But you never update your app your staff so proudly bragg about-bye!

You guys need to fix and update your app. It doesn’t load or loads super slow. It’s terrible now before it would load right away. Idk what the problem is but please fix before I go on another weather app…

This app used to be great, now it freezes and hangs every time I open it.

I loved the app until I started having issues. It freezes up and will not show the weather or news! Just keeps rebooting. Have to close app, deleted and reinstall it. Works for about a minute thens does the same thing.

Works fine but loaded with ads…seems to be trend with most apps. Mostly use it for weather and the radar.

Was the best app out there but now takes forever to load. Not having any issues with loading anything else. Reloading has not helped.

App just freezes and has a lot of glitches

Love it. Always “my go to”. The only issue is when you are viewing an alert and reading it and you want to delete it, the “x” to delete it is so small that when you tap on it, it opens up the alert again. It’s a pain. Can you make the “X” bigger or create a swipe to the left feature to delete it easier. Thanks!

I am using an Ipad air 3. Loaded the app and it works fine…initially. When I re-open the app 24+ hours later I get a frozen weather screen. Deleted and reloaded with the same results: works initially, then freezes when reopened. Problem not on my end. Deleted app as I can get the same information from other apps and sources.

On data or wifi

The app works well except videos will start playing randomly when opening up a news story. I have the automatic play button in the off position and it will still do it on some(not all) stories. Please send a fix to the app!!!

The app has alerts with a small Boyton to delete. Unless you have very little fingers, attempting to delete the alert usually opens it. Frustrating!

The app works very well except for the video player. I'll often click on articles and have a suggested video that seems to be related to the story. After clicking, it's usually a live broadcast and unrelated to what I'm looking at. When the video is correct, the player is unstable. Going into full screen doesn't truly put you in landscape mode - the speakers don't correctly play audio from both sides (top and bottom speakers) of the phone. Furthermore, spatial audio with AirPods seems to always be used dispute having it disabled in my phone settings. Improving the video player would really increase the usability of the app.

Within the last few days, the weather option does not work. It has worked for years, and I used this app more often than the Weather Channel. Now it says no chart available. Sometimes it will give me weather for another town that I have programmed in, but, when I ask for my town, it continues to give me the previous town’s information. I have been forced to use the Weather Channel. I deleted the app, then reloaded it from the App Store, and it still says no chart available.

The settings for alerts is a little hard to find but other than that this is a perfect app!

Last version is horrible, I can’t even see The day In the forecast. Letters are so small, Hate it. I’m going to look for a different weather app.

Some computer nut just revamped this app and it’s horrible. You used to be able to find articles easily. There used to be a number in a red dot outside the app to let you know how many alerts there were. All you had to do is open the app and touch the little bell that had the red dot on it and it pulled up all the new stories. Now I have this huge number on the outside of the app but when I open it there is nothing that indicates new stories. I can’t get rid of the number. Please fire the idiot that remodeled the NBC 5 app and bring back the old one.

One lightning alert is fine but I don’t need one every other minute. It would be nice to turn off certain weather alerts for my location rather than having to disable location services. Also, it would be nice to get alerts by county. I don’t need alerts for the counties I don’t live in.

I don’t know why someone redesigned the old app but the new app is awful. Boring colors and template and nothing is easy to find. I miss the quick weather brief. No more “watch live TV now” is a major deal breaker. You had over 4.5 stars so if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. 😢

Whoever designed the new update of your app, needs to be fired. There are very old news stories on there, and frankly much too much in the way of advertisements. It is very hard to find what you’re looking for. And the layout is atrocious. You need to go back to what you had about a month or two ago before the upgrade. I am about to delete this app in find a new Chicago news app to have on my phone.

I like this app. It helps me to access the weather and up to date news.

I don’t like the update. They have eliminated the brief view of today’s weather. I don’t want to scroll through the whole day to find out what’s going to happen. I want to glance down, know if it’s going to be warm or cold or rain. Otherwise the app is nice, the update is clean

Why does your app notifications leave us “biting our nails” for the news, while other news apps give us enough information via the Notification Center to get by? So much unnecessary. I don’t have to click into your notification for updates when another app gives the exact “nail biting” update right beneath you in my Notification Center, with more information. Which app do you think gets more praise? You guessed it. That’s why you get 2 ⭐️’s.
