NBC 5 Chicago: News & Weather App Reviews

The app is terrible for battery life. Once I installed it its literally run 1 minute on screen but found out the its been active 1.2hrs in the background including constant use of GPS. Need a fix ASAP.

I think who ever created this app was out a sabotage NBC. The app took a big step back and nothing but problems. Crashes of half the stories. Has 5 day old stories on top, and many many more issues.

Its a shame you took such an easy to use app and butchered it so badly. The new app is confusing, cumbersome and loaded with too much video and not enough text. The news changes daily - so what was the great need to radically change your app?

This app frequently crashes and is unable to load content. It is fortunate the app is so unreliable because we are loyal channel 5 fans.

I thought updates were supposed to fix the bugs...this app is horrible, unreliable and never seems to work. Not meant for mobility devices apparently. Pop updates work fine, but when you want to actually go to the site to read about the update - nada, nothing to see...literally...just their logo...wow

Downloaded as a friends mother donated her evergreen for Millennium Parks Christmas Tree. The app doesnt respond very quickly and seems quite cumbersome to use. Quite surprising as I watch NBC5 nightly.

Please combine the news and weather features of the NBC storm team app and the NBC CHICAGO APP. That would be the perfect combo

Please fix: WTH happened NBC?! No landscape?! And how about articles to READ! I hate all these news apps that insist on video-heavy content. It shouldnt be this hard to find out whats important and going on NOW. UGH back to the App Store to continue my search.

I was prompted to upgrade to the new app. I only kept the new app for less than a minute when I realized it wasnt capable of rotating to landscape when I rotated my iPad mini to landscape. Unfortunately, I deleted my NBC 5 HD app while this version was downloading. The older app I deleted is no longer available; therefore, I no longer have an NBC 5 app. The idiots who created this app never used it prior to release. Bottom line: this app is not ready for prime time.

The only thing your app is good for is telling me your having technical difficulties or days errors. iOS 9 on a new iPad Air and Im lucky if I get a picture that is pixelated. Get real or pull your app off the App Store. Dumping this worthless app!

I enjoy the Storm Team App, refer to it daily. However, now that you are pushing users to your Chicago app nothing is accurate, reliable, or easy to use. Looking for another weather/news source. FDG

I downloaded this so I could get up to date news about Chicago but this app has yet to give me any news since it force closes at start up.

Misspellings, stale stories, reported a shooting at a suburban store and didnt even say where, big fan of the channel 5 news but Ill be using the abc7 app in my phone

Please bring back the old NBC 5 app. Cannot view in landscape mode which is very inconvenient. Will no longer use your news app unless that Is changed.

Im and iPad user, did you forget about us. This used to be my go to news app, not any more. It looks like Im viewing it from an iPhone and the screen doesnt rotate. The old app was mush better. Ill seek my news else where.......

This is brutal. I love channel 5, but this is a dealbreaker. Looking into 2 and 7. So sad.

Bring back the old version, this version is awkward on the iPad (no landscape) which is why I went back to the old version. Now you cant use the old version at all. I dumped the new version off my phone because it was not easy to use. Trying to locate a story was not as easy as it used to be. Dumping this one now too

I am a landscape viewer and find myself looking sideways to view articles. Also, I prefer the former (photo and headline) layout of the news pieces. This new look feels more like can ABC 7 and seems more geared for a phone than the iPad. The news episode allows for landscape viewing but it now does not give me my clock at the top of the page. Since I typically watch the morning news as I get ready the clock at the top would be extremely helpful.

Functionality is good but I need landscape mode. How dare NBC decide how I should view the app!!!

The app seems to have good information, but I will never regularly use an iPad app that only displays in landscape. Landscape is so cumbersome on an iPad -- Why would you make the app this way, unless you were trying to trim corners by just expanding on an iPhone app platform? Very disappointing.
